Sarpel Ustunel, Managing Director of Globalview Advisors’ London office, was invited to teach a professional development course at London’s  BPP University, known as the University for the Professions. The course was titled “Intangible Asset Valuations under the UK GAAP”, organized in partnership between BPP University and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),  primarily aimed for an audience of finance directors and financial controllers of UK companies. The course outline covered:

  • Different classes of intangible assets;
  • Fair value definition;
  • Appropriate valuation methods for intangible assets;
  • The concept of cash-generating units; and
  • Annual impairment testing.

Sarpel is regularly invited by professional education companies in London to train Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) candidates, covering various topics including equity valuation, accounting and financial statement analysis. In addition, he delivers intangible asset and intellectual property valuation courses to lawyers, accountants, and finance professionals in the U.K. Sarpel’s articles on valuation topics have been published by Finance Week and Professional Investor magazines. He has also been referred to as a valuation expert by several publications including the Financial Times and Accountancy Age.
