Raymond Rath, Managing Director of Globalview, was named Chair of the Planning Committee for the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) 2018 Advanced Business Valuation (ABD) Conference which will be held in Anaheim, California on October 7-10, 2018. The ASA was the first valuation professional organization to offer a multi-day conference focused on the information needs of business appraisers. The conference has been offered annually since the early 1980s.
As Chair, Mr. Rath’s responsibilities for the conference include developing a planning committee, development of instruction topics and speakers, arranging speakers, confirming presentation content, introduction of speakers and moderating presentations at the upcoming conference.
Conference presentations are focused on three technical tracks including:
Financial Reporting: Overview of current developments in the financial reporting area including performance requirements, auditor concerns, releases of valuation technical guidance and accounting developments.
Technical: Advanced technical presentations covering business, securities and intangible asset valuations. Advanced valuation theory developments pertaining to the cost of capital, valuation discounts and other valuation assumptions.
Niche: Legal, tax, industry and other developments of interest.
This year’s conference will continue to focus on advanced issues of interest to valuation professionals and financial executives with an interest in valuation related topics. Conference attendees will be able to choose from over 30 different presentation topics of current interest. Included among this year’s presentation is an update on valuation developments in China by a senior representative of the China Appraisal Society (CAS).
The ABV conference attendees and presenters include a broad range of business valuation professionals from across the globe. Conference presenters and attendees include valuation professionals from the major accounting firms, independent valuation firms, organizations or government entities including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOBUS). Presenters and audience members also include accounting and legal professionals and a variety of industry representatives.
