The topic for the evening’s informative Professional Development Session was “Mitigating the Costs of Litigation and Arbitration” presented by Josh Franklin and Cheryl Soto of Franklin | Soto LLP. Businesses frequently wait until after a lawsuit has been filed before seriously evaluating how to effectively control the costs and risks associated with litigation and other forms of dispute resolution. Taking the time to consider and implement appropriate measures ahead of time can dramatically impact the course, scope, length, and expense of an action brought by a competitor, customer, vendor, or current or former employee, officer, or director. This seminar addressed a variety of topics, including arbitration, forum selection clauses, attorney’s fee clauses, and insurance coverage. At the end of the program, you were in a position to make more informed decisions that will mitigate the costs and risks associated with a legal action against your organization.
