Michael Haghighat from Globalview Advisors attended the Forum for Corporate Directors Private Equity Panel Discussion on “The Times They Are a-Changin’: Private Equity and the Consumer in the Trump Economy”, held at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach. The discussion was led by private equity experts about what’s hot (and what’s not), recent trends, and how changes in Washington impact business in Orange County.

Carrie Duarte, partner and SoCal Private Equity Sector Leader at PwC, set the stage with a keynote address about several trends among Private Equity firms—including deal origination, diligence, and negotiations—and how they bring value to their portfolio companies. Her remarks covered differences across PE firms and how companies might differentiate among potential private equity suitors.

Following the keynote, a top-notch panel of experts included recent FCD Director of the Year Honoree Tom Davin, CEO of 5.11 Tactical; Pat Maciariello, Partner at The Compass Group; Steve Holley, Senior Vice President at Altamont Capital Partners; Scott Constance, Partner in PwC’s Consumer Markets Operations Consulting practice; and, to moderate, Brandon Howald, Partner and Chair of the Orange County Corporate Department at Paul Hastings LLP.

The Forum for Corporate Directors was founded in 1991. FCD addresses current business topics through relevant programs, interaction with recognized experts, and thought leadership offering practical insights, as well as enhances board room effectiveness by creating a forum for collaboration among directors, executives, and advisors to the board.
