The USC/SEC Financial Reporting Institute is intended to advance awareness of accounting developments and key issues within the financial reporting community. The overall objective of the Institute is to promote exchange among academicians, policy setters at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). This broad goal underlies each of the Institute’s main thrusts which are to sponsor conferences and meetings, and to undertake research of interest to academicians, policy setters, and business and accounting leaders. The Institute also periodically hosts informal meetings and roundtables between policy setters from the SEC and the private sector, as well as faculty, students, and selected representatives from CPA firms and the industry.
